The Tampa JCCs & Federation historic more a dozen exceptional individuals during the Sue and Jeff Schoenbaum Almanac Customs Leadership Awards ceremony.
Nearly 140 participants tuned in Oct. 15 to see the recipients receive their honors during the Zoom presentation. The event shines a lite on individuals who demonstrate outstanding service and set the standard for leadership in our community and beyond.
The evening opened with greetings from Gary Gould, CEO of the Tampa JCCs & Federation. He lauded the evening'southward recipients every bit "rock stars" and recognized the generosity of Sue and Jeff Schoenbaum for their almanac campaign matching souvenir challenge.
Joe Probasco, president of the Tampa JCCs & Federation, welcomed the honorees and guests and set the phase for the evening stating, "Nosotros could not exist without help from these extraordinary people." He added, "Each of you adds incredible value to the Jewish communal enterprise and to the welfare of our greater Tampa community." He thanked them for their "extensive investment of time, free energy and passion" every bit well as "the mitzvahs you do to help repair our world that so desperately needs our attention."

Leadership Excellence: Jefrey Berger
This award recognizes and honors noteworthy leaders who bring energy, guidance and resources to the Tampa JCCs & Federation, likewise as to our overall customs.
Berger was honored for his commitment to the Tampa Jewish community as a regular attendee at diverse fundraisers and functions, generous donor and dedicated lay leader who has a true passion for helping those in need and for his office in ensuring the continuity of Jewish life.
An attorney managing his ain law house practice specializing in commercial real manor, Berger is a past and current board member of the Tampa JCCs & Federation and a fellow member of the Federation Leadership Council. He has served as counsel on a pro bono basis for a diverseness of projects, including the basis lease for the Bryan Glazer Family JCC and the acquisition of boosted country and a lake on the Maureen and Douglas Jewish Customs Campus.

Berger is the immediate past president of Tampa Jewish Family unit Services and has served equally a board fellow member in many leadership and volunteer capacities for over a decade. Berger, along with his wife, Susan Kessler, have hosted annual reverse trick or care for asking friends to bring food for the TJFS Food Banking company. He also has performed with the Greater Seder, participates with Ashlav Band at Congregation Schaarai Zedek and plays drums/percussion with a local ring, South of Kennedy.

Excellence: Sara Golding Scher
A longtime resident of Tampa, Scher has been dedicated to making art, advocating for women's rights and indulging in motion-picture show festivals. Scher is executive chair of the Tampa JCCs & Federation's Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival and works diligently with her committees for the success of the almanac festival.

Scher has served on the lath of directors for Florida CraftArt, Graphic Studio, Gasparilla Film Festival and Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central FL, every bit well equally various selection, acquisition and educational activity committees for USF Contemporary Fine art Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, Patel Conservatory, Hillsborough Canton Public Art committee. She is the proud curator of the art at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC.

Hope Cohen Barnett Young
Leadership Award: Michele Schlesinger
Schlesinger is an occupational therapist in the field of brain injury and stroke and is involved with geriatric rehabilitation and voluntary services with active adults for over a decade. She is a recent graduate of the Hope Cohen Barnett Leadership Institute and volunteers at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC where she helps to lead Plugged-In, an initiative to provide applied science training for older adults and sits on the Jewish Family Services advisory committee.

Charles Adler Immature Leadership
Honour: Cory Kleinman
Some other leadership institute alumnus, Kleinman sits on the finance committee and leadership council for the Tampa JCCs & Federation. He is also a member of Tampa Jewish Family Services' informational committee and a co-chair of FIBA's ambassador initiative. Outside of the Jewish community, he volunteers for civic and charitable organizations. A Tampa native, Kleinman is a financial advisor with Vantage Indicate Advisors of Raymond James.

The hearts of three women went out to the quarantining older community members residing at Weinberg Village or in isolation at their homes, so they devised a program for Friday deliveries of challahs to lift spirits and create a sense of community during a lonely fourth dimension. They identified Jewish seniors across Tampa and delivered 400 challahs in over 4 months with the assist of a few volunteers that the woman recruited. To cover projection costs, the trio worked in partnership with the Tampa JCCs and Federation to develop an emergency Lion of Judah fundraiser.
Kratz has been involved on both sides of Tampa Bay. She is a Lion of Judah, supporting the Tampa JCCs & Federation, and recently joined the Almanac President's Dinner committee. In addition, she has served as a member of Women'southward American Globe ORT, and on the boards of Temple Ahavat Shalom, Good Samaritan Judeo Christian Health Clinic and the Dean Headstrom Foundation of Melanoma Sensation.

Leeds is this year'southward chair of Women's Philanthropy, is a past Chair of the Lions of Judah Club, is a by board fellow member of the Tampa JCCs & Federation and Congregation Kol Ami and was a member of the National Women's Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation. Additionally, she volunteers at University Prep of Tampa and serves on Tampa Bay Job Links Brotherhood.
Tannenbaum is a longtime supporter of the Tampa JCCs and Federation whose contributions are all-encompassing. She has served equally Lion of Judah chair, Women's Philanthropy chair, Campaign chair, Women of Stardom chair and every bit a member of the board of directors, as well as on the lath of TOP Jewish Foundation. She too volunteers at secular charitable organizations.

Jeff Armstrong, a Valley Bank Senior Vice President of Commerical Banking
A weekly radio program airing on WMNFFM, which recently expanded to offer a podcast equally well, "The Tertiary Opinion" provides discussion virtually electric current events and pressing issues that face our Jewish community and the country of Israel. The plan/podcast features a variety of opinions with feedback from its hosts, guests and the public. Co-hosted by Laureen Jaffe and Mike Deeson, the program is produced by Marker Segel and Jen Goldberg. Jonathan Ellis and Gary Gould are co-executive producers, Craig Kopp provides production and distribution consultation and Megan Conison coordinates social media support.

Alissa Fischel
The award honors a staff member who goes higher up and beyond what is expected to make the organization the nearly successful it can exist. Fischel's involvement with the Tampa JCCs and Federation began as a preschool mom and volunteer. She was quickly recruited by Gould to join the staff in 2007 after proving herself as an effective leader and fundraiser with a varied skillset. Initially serving every bit the youth & family programming director, she later assumed the role as Jewish Community Centre director, then managing director of development and is now principal development officeholder.
Fischel is responsible for overseeing fundraising efforts for the arrangement, including the Annual Entrada and corporate and capital gifts; she manages the organization's life and legacy plan, oversees the Panthera leo of Judah society, plans and executes all Federation events with her volunteer committees. These include the Annual President'southward Dinner, J'la, Professional person Societies, Campaign Offset, Bobbe Karpay Women of Distinction and the Sue & Jeff Schoenbaum Community Leadership Awards. Additionally, she manages all of the bureau's marketing and advertising and recently became the system's COVID compliance director over the by several months when information technology became apparent that was needed.

Award: Valley Depository financial institution
Gary Gould presented the award to Jeff Armstrong, representing Valley Bank. Valley Bank was thanked for its long-term commitment in partnering with the Tampa JCCs & Federation. Valley Bank provided funding that made the edifice and opening of the Bryan Glazer Family unit JCC possible and more recently provided support to the system in its quest for federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding during the COVID pandemic crunch.
