Not sure what to brand of the book as a gender argument. It'due south all the typical stuff: adventure and sports.

Neubecker's best piece of work is when he presents the circuitous pictures inside the boy's imagination, showing a world where the fantasy acts out in particular. The page with the jungle had illustrations that remind me of some of Sendak'due south scarier ink drawings. I thought the ending was trite, until he added one more page to evidence the boy imagining again.

Non sure what to brand of the book as a gender statement. Information technology's all the typical stuff: take a chance and sports.

A good gift for a family of boys, but the best office is the dedication, which reads:

"For my mom, who fearlessly
piloted her Buick on hundreds
of missions over hostile territory,
through blazing deserts, across
polar ice, and into outer space.
She never lost a human.

My only consequence with this adorable book is it's reliance on the traditional and frequently stereotypical ideas of "what boys are made of". That said, it does also include the "Sugar and Spice" that is normally reserved for girls. The illustrations are awesome at showing how what we see children doing is nothing in comparison to what their imaginations are actually accomplishing. The book was very short and to the point. Information technology was sing songy and rhymed all throughout. The illustrations are very centre catching and go on with the text to a T. (i.e. pg. 8-10) it talks virtually snakes, rats, and big jungle cats with movie of each below trailing the boy. On each page it transitions from existent life playing with the toys to the boys imagination and the toys coming to life.

A sweet interpretation of the classic nursery rhyme. Colorful details feature scenes from a lilliputian boy'due south dream: a rocket diggings into space, an explorer in the jungle, a pirate commanding a ship, a soccer star scoring a goal, and fifty-fifty a knight taming a dragon.

Beautiful echo book about what little boys are made of. Dragons and pirates and bones and stones. All in rhyming. And ultimately, of cuddles and love, as well. Beautiful.

A new spin and modern touch to the popular nursery rhyme. The bold illustrations against the white background and simple, rhyming text makes this a fun a quick read. An update on a archetype nursery rhyme almost little boys. This version includes many common boy interests and shows a child at play and so builds to a 2 page spread to showcase the globe of his imagination. This pattern is followed throughout the stanzas that make up the book.

A great celebration of boys book! Good read aloud.

I may be a tad biased because I have ii boys, but I idea this book was really sweet and indicative of the imaginary life of little boys. It's a take on the poem about "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails, that's what fiddling boys are made of" merely takes it further and with more affection.

Great illustrations.

I can meet this as a nice baby shower gift for new parents having a boy, or every bit a birthday gift for a immature boy. Fun spin on the nursery rhyme with bold, colorful illustrations.
Great Books
The adventuresome life of a little male child is chronicled using an old rhyme and illustrations. The young boys adventures have a life-like realism that is captured in each cartoon. reviewer 13

Nyeh. Politically corrected to brand certain the generic boy has a feminine side. Nothing peculiarly unique or creative about the handling given this traditional plant nursery rhyme.
